“I would certainly recommend Burggraf,” said Pastor Allen Richard, “based on their knowledge of what needs to happen and how to get it done.”
In February 2021, below-freezing temperatures gripped northeastern Oklahoma for almost two weeks straight, including dangerous dips below zero. The prolonged cold snap wreaked havoc in an area unused to subzero temps.
“The temperature dropped to minus thirteen one night, and we had a pipe in our kitchen freeze up and break,” Richard said. “And most of our downstairs had water in it.”
On the recommendation of the firefighters, Richard called two restoration companies that morning and told them both that the job would go to whoever got there first. And Burggraf was the first to arrive.
“Most of my Burggraf experience is wrapped up in one person. And his name is Bill,” Richard said.
Bill Shouse was in charge of the project, which took almost a year to complete.
“It was a lot to do,” Richard said “It was a big claim.”
To make matters worse, as Burggraf was cleaning up the water damage, they found mold in the walls of the church and had to move forward with mold remediation as well, which is a time-consuming process.
“Eventually they got it all done, replaced, repaired, repainted.”
After the job at the church, Richard knew exactly who to turn to when his house was struck by lightning earlier this year.
“I was awakened at 11:38 at night with a massive lightning bolt hitting my house,” he said. “I discovered there was a fire in the attic. I got up there with my garden hose and got a lot of it put out, and then the fireman showed up and got the rest of it put out, and I called Bill Shouse.”
Now Bill Shouse and Burggraf are getting Richard’s house put back together as well.
In both projects, Richard says he appreciates what Burggraf has brought to the projects, both in terms of expertise and reassurance when faced with a disaster.
“Bill’s first words to me when he came over to look at my house the other day was, ‘This is not that big a deal. We’ll get it taken care of.’
“Well, that gave me reassurance that okay, maybe it’s not near as scary as I thought it was.”
In addition to knowledge, expertise, and assurance, Richard said that he also appreciated the open communication from Bill, keeping him updated on the status of the projects.
“I don’t feel like I am in the way when I call and ask for an update, so to me that’s pretty valuable,” he said. “He’s working with me, and I appreciate that.
“In my experience, Burggraf wants me, the customer, to be happy and to be satisfied. And it makes me feel like they’re working for me rather than they’re working for an insurance company or for themselves.
