A storm-damaged roof put a ticking time bomb in Robin Luellen’s primary bedroom.

How did you find the mold in your bedroom?
I was going to redo my bedroom anyway. I was going to put down new flooring. My son-in-law came over and pulled the carpet up, and that’s how we found the black mold in the wall.
Were you worried about the mold? Did it cause any health issues?
I was concerned that it was black mold.
My bedroom, we packed up and moved it to another part of the house. The room was empty, and like I said, we didn’t discover it until we pulled up the carpet.
Did it cause any health problems? Not that I know of. I just closed the door on the bedroom, and I hardly ever go in there.
How did you find Burggraf?
We actually called another company first. We couldn’t get them to respond.
My daughter decided she’d call somebody else, and you all were the ones that we called.
Anyway, you all came out. I was very pleased with the people. The guy and the lady who came out here were very nice. They explained everything to me. They told me everything that they were going to do.
One of Burggraf’s guys came and looked at it, and the guy who does the air quality came out and checked the house. He said as far as he knew, [the mold] was only in that wall.
We talked about how far up they were going to take it; they were only going to take it to the window sill.
I told him because of certain things and how damp it was, would he go up even a little higher, probably about six or seven inches above the window sill?
They did exactly what I told them to do.
They had to leave the fans over the weekend, which I left on because I didn’t go back in there.
They checked it again whenever they came out and loaded up the fans.
I couldn’t ask for better.

There is no black mold in my wall now.
I haven’t gotten the wall fixed yet because I’m waiting on a guy that I know, and he’s going to fix the wall.
But as far as cleaning the room after the sheetrock was taken out and all of that business, I couldn’t ask for better.
