Sometimes storm damage doesn’t present itself immediately, as Robin Larsarsky found out.
Her Mannford home made it through the 2023 Father’s Day storms presumably intact, but the roof was “not looking great.” Although she had a roofing company tell her that it needed replacement, her insurance refused to cover it.
One year later, another storm blew through and ripped off multiple shingles.

“The rain just came straight on through,” Robin said. “We had a lot of leaking in our living room and also in the master bedroom downstairs. Rain was literally coming through our ceiling and pooling in buckets.”
Robin immediately contacted Burggraf, and they came out that day to start the process of helping Robin and her family get everything repaired and replaced.
“I know this is their job and it’s work, but they are super kind and respectful and just treat you with dignity, which is a big deal.”
How was your roof damaged?
In August 2024, there was a pretty strong storm that came through and blew off a lot of shingles. There were some structural issues with the roof already, just because of the Father’s Day storm in 2023. No shingles were gone, but you could just tell things were not looking great.
We had contacted insurance companies back in 2023 and they assured us that the roof was fine, but then when the August storm came through, it was enough to remove several shingles, and then of course the rain then just came straight on through.
We had a lot of leaking in our living room and also in the master bedroom downstairs.
And then later, when one of the gentlemen from Burggraf was at the house inspecting our roof damage, water was running down the wall in our master bedroom. That turned out to be from a leak in the flashing around our chimney.
Did it cause any damage inside the house?
The damage was all primarily just to the insulation, sheetrock, and all of that.
There wasn’t any other damage to anything structurally that I know of. We stopped it pretty quickly, so we didn’t have any issues with mildew or anything like that.
How did you come to get in touch with Burggraf?
I knew Burggraf through work, and they had done a lot of stuff in our area. Their kids and my kids go to the same school and I knew that they had done work at my place of business.
When we initially had people come out and look at the roof, they had just said, “Yeah, it needs to be replaced.”
But they were a roofing company and insurance is like, “Well, of course they’re going to want to replace it.” So they [insurance] didn’t want to.
So when this happened and there was literally rain coming through our ceiling and pooling in buckets, we were like, “Nope, I want people who know what they’re doing.”
So I contacted Burggraf and they came out that day and put the tarp up.
What was their recovery plan?
It took a while for them to start on the roof and in the house, but it was because we were fighting with insurance. So when insurance basically said they wouldn’t do anything and they dropped us, that’s when I just said, “Okay, come fix it.”
We started with the roof. Just because obviously you don’t want to do anything on the inside until the roof is done.
I contacted them once I had heard from insurance and within a week, we had selected what type of roofing we wanted, color, all of that. And then they started about a week later.
The roof was stripped completely down and replaced within a couple of days. They had it all done and everything cleaned up.
We also talked to them about a couple of things that were just wear and tear damage. Since we were paying for it anyway, we wanted to go ahead and fix it while they were up there. So they replaced some of our hardy board siding that was not put in correctly to begin with and had been beaten up from hail and who knows what else.
Once they were done with that, they had somebody else come out and just re-look at the estimate of what they had done before and kind of see where everything was.
Then they came out and packed up the house, specifically the two rooms that they were going to be in. They packed it all, moved it all, then did the demo and that was all within two days. They put up big machines to scrub everything, the air and stuff—scrubbers, I think.
And they had everything tarped off so that we could still be in our house, just not in those areas.
Once that was done, we had to leave town to move my son into college. So then it was another week just because of being gone and their schedule.
They had somebody come back in and he replaced everything and painted it. It took him about probably about two weeks, but he did it on his own. He was very meticulous and did a fantastic job. You can’t even tell that anything happened.
Would you recommend Burggraf to others?
Well, I’ve already recommended them. The doctor I work for, her house had a leak and they had an awful disaster with a contractor who came out and was super rude and didn’t do what they said they were going to do.
And so I immediately told them to call Burggraf. Because number one, when they say they’re going to do something, they do it. And if for some reason they can’t do exactly what they said, they try to get as close as they can to whatever you need done.
They are very efficient and they are very safe. They take care of the property and make sure things are cleaned up and are properly disposed of. And I didn’t have to worry about nails all over my yard or trash or them taking up space in our dumpster. I didn’t have to worry about any of that.
Everybody has just been super understanding and very accommodating. They want to get our life back into a normal timeframe as well. I know this is their job and it’s work, but they are super kind and respectful and just treat you with dignity, which is a big deal.
