What exactly happened in your home and what were you thinking or feeling at that moment?
I happened to look underneath the sink. I didn’t have a need to get down there that much, so we weren’t actively looking in that cabinet every day.
But I looked underneath the sink and noticed that the water filtration canister had fallen over, and that there was a hole in there now ’cause it had rotted.
That’s when I was feeling very, “Oh no, this is not good”.
So how long had it been leaking?
I really don’t know. We had had the water filtration installed almost a year before. It definitely had been a while. I’m not sure how long.
How did you connect with Burggraf? Why did you choose them?
We had had a previous incident in 2015 where a truck ran through our home. And it tore through the front bedroom.
My boss’s husband worked there, so she referred us to Burggraf. So I got in touch with Burggraf through her and it was an excellent, excellent experience. So I knew who to call.
How did Burggraf help you achieve success?
They gave advice as to whether I should do an insurance claim. You could do it cheaper by not having your deductible and all of that. But the evaluation determined that it was bad enough to warrant a claim.
There was moisture in the living room. It went into the hardwoods, but we couldn’t see that without those meters Burggraf had. And the extensive damage the cabinet had. Burggraf had the expertise to know that this would cost more than the deductible.
They helped me on the process to file a claim, and told me, “this is going to be the process,” which I kind of knew from the previous experience, but this was a water leak. It was different.
They also helped me with the phone call to get your claim number and, you know, kind of a step-by-step walkthrough because as homeowners, we don’t do these things every day.
They were a welcoming, calming presence, and that’s the way it’s been with everybody at Burggraf. Everybody’s knowledgeable and helps you not panic. And you have the confidence to know that they’re on your side.
How long did it take for the whole process to be completed?
From September 4th through close to the end of November, first week in December. And that was cabinets and countertops and flooring and paint and everything.
How did you feel during the process and then when it was done?

And afterwards, I was just in disbelief of how well all of it came together and how it went. I talked to other people that had restoration issues and they said, “man, that was quick. We’re usually, you know, six months to a year.” And there’s another person that I know that has been waiting two years and still doesn’t have their stuff put together.
It was a very wonderful process, aside from the stress of it all. Everything went together smoothly. We are overjoyed with the job that everyone did.
How do you think they helped you avoid bad outcomes?
Well, it just seemed very coordinated. You go from this step to this step to this step. And everybody that came and worked on our house were just top-notch, easy to work with people.
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
It was a wonderful process from start to finish, even though it was stressful. They took a stressful situation and they got us through it. You’re in the stress of it and they’re handling the details and it makes all the difference.
