Why You Need an Emergency Response Plan
The worst time to try to figure out what you’re going to do in a disaster is when it’s already happened. When a building is flooded and critical areas need immediate attention, an emergency response plan (ERP) can make the difference between chaos and catastrophe or a quick, orderly, effective cleanup.
Being well-prepared for a water damage emergency will allow you to handle one with confidence. You’ll have a quicker response, take care of the most important things first, reduce damage and loss, and ultimately, get back to normal sooner.
Creating Your ERP
Because we know how important it is that everyone has a response plan, we offer our Emergency Response Program at no cost. It’s an underutilized program, but we’re trying to get the word out.
Working with us to develop your emergency response plan gives you access to our experienced and knowledgeable crew and gives you peace of mind, knowing the best response team is prepared specifically for your building anytime, day or night.
How It Works
What we like to do is meet with building managers and work together to develop a plan. We walk through your building, identifying shut-off valves for water, gas, electric, fire suppression systems, and so on. In many cases, we’re learning together.
We note critical areas, which gives you some insight into the kind of damage and impact you may be facing. This gives you a chance to look at risk and allows us to prepare to take care of the most important things up front.
We gather important contacts and insurance information for our files so that no one is running around trying to find those things in the middle of an emergency.
Next Steps
After we get to know your facility, we head back to the office and draw up a sketch detailing all those critical points. We’ll mark where to park, place a dumpster, and come in and out of your building.
These are the things we really need to know to get a grip on the entire situation as quickly as possible, and these are things you really need to know as well.
This gives you a chance to ensure that your staff knows where to go to shut off the water or the fire suppression system. It gives you a chance to establish your contact list and your plan, knowing who you’ll call in the middle of the night and what you’ll need to do.
It can even help with your insurance to show the company you have an emergency plan in place.
Faster Response, Better Outcomes
It’s always better to have a plan in place before we get there so that we’re familiar with your site and everybody knows where to go and what to do when we arrive.
That allows us to focus directly on your priorities in a timely, orderly fashion without delays and unknowns. The quicker we arrive on site and get to work, the less damage and loss you’ll have, and the quicker you’ll be back to normal.
How Do I Sign Up?
Just call! It’s so simple. Just call the office and say, “Hey! We’re interested in your emergency response program.” That’s all. Our staff will set up a time we can tour your building and we’ll work together to set up your emergency response plan.
We really believe everyone should have an ERP. It’s a great way to get ahead of a crisis that may or may not ever happen. It’s free, it’s simple, and you’ll be prepared for whatever comes your way.
